He simply loves to snuggle on the bed at night but during the day he teases all the ​other cars and kittens like only a teenager can...relentlessly!

As naughty as he is, he is a firm favourite of everyone!

Maine Emblem Bear Lace of Jaeger Cats

Lacey was the first-ever breeding mother at Jaeger Cats ​and is sadly now the last of her line, as all of her ​predecessors have passed away.

Her stunning combination of striking green eyes and ​black silver tortoiseshell coat means that she frequently ​produces exceptionally beautiful babies.

Born in Clair's (Jaeger Cats founder) bedroom, Jaeger Cats kittens are cared for (and possibly obsessed over) more than many human babies. Kittens are weighed each ​day to ensure they are getting enough milk (it can be hard to tell with all the furballs gathered at mom’s teats), and the additional washing machine used for kitten ​bedding works harder than the human one.

When the kittens are ready, the little family graduates from the bedroom to the kitten playroom, where they have a little more freedom to explore both toys and solid ​foods, as and when they are ready. Some Maine Coon kitten favourites are scrambled eggs, thinly sliced raw chicken, and raw minced meat.

The next step for the kittens is being allowed outside. Older kittens enjoy days in the garden, galavanting among the plants, pawing at the swimming pool and ​eyeballing the tortoises, until they are old enough to go home to a loving family. Clair is dedicated to ensuring every kitten born in her cattery gets the best possible ​start to life, and that their lives continue on the happy and wholesome trajectory they begin on.

Our kittens will only leave to their new home between 11 and 12 weeks of age when they are inoculated (both inoculations & rabies), registered, dewormed and ​STERILISED.

All our cats are Tested N/N Negative: FeLV (Feline leukaemia virus), FIV (Feline immunodeficiency virus), SMA (Spinal Muscular), HCM (Feline ​hypertrophic cardiomyopathy), PKdef (Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency) and HCM echocardiogram to try our best that no genetic diseases get passed on to our ​kittens.

Our kittens only go to approved homes where we feel they will fit in the best. They go with a signed contract between the breeder and the new owner. We vet our ​potential new owners throughy.

The kittens must remain indoors or go to homes with supervised outside access and cat-secure premises with either a Catio or a cat secure garden.

On choosing or being allocated one of our kittens, a 50% deposit and signing of our contract is required and the balance before kitten goes in to be sterilised.

AT ALL TIMES, WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE THE PLACEMENT WE FEEL IS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF EVERY INDIVIDUAL KITTEN.

You will receive your kitten with a kitten starter pack, official registration papers, vet book and passport.

The deposit payable is to secure your kitten and to ensure the time and effort that goes into placing this kitten is justified, the deposit will only be refunded at the ​discretion of the breeder.

Why Jaeger Pet Freight was Founded

Jaeger Cats Cattery was founded by Clair Jaeger who used to run a Russian cargo airline and oversaw the successful freight of animals, among other cargo, from ​racehorses to birds.

Having constantly seen, shared, and posted desperate pleas on her Jaeger Cats group from emigrating South Africans looking to rehome their beloved family pets, Clair ​couldn’t understand how people could leave their pets behind and abscond from the responsibility they undertook when they got them. However, when she learned the ​exorbitant costs some South African pet freight service providers were charging, she understood why so many family animals were getting abandoned, left in shelters or ​euthanized. And thus Jaeger Pet Freight was established.

Since then, Jaeger Pet Freight has helped many families get their pets abroad at manageable and affordable rates. Even with the challenges of COVID-19 where flights ​have been restricted, cancelled, borders closed and HARC congested – we have pets reunited with their families worldwide.

Once you have accepted our quote (which is transparent and detailed) we will advise what you need to do, with our assistance, to get your pet/s “vet ready” to leave SA.

We all know that life happens while you are making plans, so in the unlikely event that your pet gets bumped off a flight, or your flight is before your pets’ flight, or you ​cannot get your pets to the vet, we'll do it for you and arrange emergency babysitting as and when necessary. Jaeger Pet Freight will be with you throughout the entire ​process and assist you every step of the way. We work closely with boarding facilities who board our animals for us while waiting for either vet clearance or flight ​availability. Dogs are normally boarded as per their owner's choice of kennels.
